The Chairperson, CBDT, to be the chief guest of the valedictory function of 67th batch of IRS Induction

The 67th Batch of Indian Revenue Service consisting of 131 Officers after completion of their sixteen months training will pass out on 10th April, 2015 after a brief ceremonial valedictory function. Smt. Anita Kapur, Chairperson of the Central Board of Direct Taxes, New Delhi will be the Chief Guest for this function and it shall be presided over by Smt.Gunjan Misra, Director General (Training). The function will be attended by the senior officers of the Income-tax Department and other senior government officials in Nagpur, officer trainees of both the batches and their parents. After Valediction, these officers will be posted as Assistant Commissioners of Income-tax in various field offices across the country. For details please read the attachment.

The Officer trainees of the 68th batch of Indian Revenue Service called on the Hon’ble President of India at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on 13/03/2015. The Hon’ble President was received at the Darbar Hall by Chairperson, CBDT, Smt. Anita Kapur. In the beginning, Director General (Trg.), Smt Gunjan Misra presented an introduction of batch & the Induction Course. Two officer trainees shared their experiences at the Induction Course. Addressing the probationers, the Hon’ble President said he personally had a long association with the Department starting since early in 1970’s till 2012, before he joined the office of the Hon’ble President. He has watched the department growing over the years and its transformation as an organization integrating the role of an enforcement organization as well as an organization which cares for the tax payers by providing better quality of tax services. The Hon’ble President said that in 1860-61 direct tax collection was Rs. 30 lakh as compared to Rs. 7.98 lakh crores in the year 2015-16; which indicate the rising share of direct tax and also structural changes in the Indian economy. The Hon’ble President called upon each of the officers to use their thoughts, imagination and ideas in the service of the country. He said the quality of public servants is most critical for any governance system. Good public policy is essential but its implementation is even more critical. Civil servant must have the required skill and knowledge as well as right values. Which include integrity, spirit of public service and above all, a commitment to the ideals and philosophy embodied in the Constitution of India. The higher civil servant in the country must be a role model. Bright young officers must rise to the occasion and live up to the faith and trust reposed in them. Shri A. K. Jain, Member (P&V) CBDT, presented a memento to the Hon’ble President. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Shri M. K. Mishra, Addl. Director General-II.

68th batch of IRS complete their Parliamentary Attachment

The Officer trainees of the 68th batch of Indian Revenue Service completed their Parliamentary Attachment on 13/03/2015. During the Parliamentary Attachment, an Appreciation Course in the parliamentary procedures was conducted by the Bureau of Parliamentary Studies and Training, Lok Sabha Secretariat, New Delhi from 9th march to 13th march 2015. Sessions on vide ranging topics like Budgetary Process in Parliament, Parliamentary Questions, Departmentally Related Standing Committees, Role of Financial Committees were taken by Hon’ble Members of Parliament and senior officers of the Lok Sabha Secretariat. The Officer Trainees benefitted immensely from interaction with the Hon’ble Members of Parliament. They also witnessed the proceedings of the Lok Sabha. During the Attachment, Hon’ble Minister for Finance, Shri Arun Jaitley and Hon’ble Minister of State for Finance, Shri Jayant Sinha addressed the officer trainees. Hon’ble Minister for Finance in his speech exhorted them to approach the task of tax administration with fairness and humility. Hon’ble Chairperson, Central Board of Direct Taxes, Smt Anita Kapur and members of the Central Board of Direct Taxes also interacted with Officer Trainees and guided them on important aspects of tax administration. On 16th and 17th March, the Officer Trainees also visited the Centralized Processing Cell, TDS (CPC-TDS) at Ghaziabad. Senior Officers from the CPC and Income Tax Business Applications (ITBA) division addressed the Officer Trainees. The officer trainees came to know as to how the Cell works and reconcile and correlate information from various sources including banks, tax deductors, assessing Officers and tax professionals. The visit to the CPC had given an opportunity to the Officer Trainees to understand closely how the advanced technology is harnessed at the CPC for better and efficient tax administration.

24 delegates from six of the SAARC countries are participating in SAARC seminar on ‘ Taxation issues in Digital Economy’ at NADT, Nagpur. It was inaugurated by Shri S. M. Nigam – Member (IT) , CBDT, Delhi. The Director General (Trg.), NADT – Smt. Gunjan Mishra was present during the inauguration function along with Shri Rajat Bansal – Joint Secretary – FT & TR. The seminar will touch upon different aspects of the issue during the sessions of experts from the field from 17th to 20th March 2015.

NADT to organise SAARC Seminar on ‘Taxation Issues in Digital Economy’

The NADT is organizing a four day SAARC Seminar on ‘Taxation Issues in Digital Economy’ from 17th March to 20th March, 2015. Around 40 delegates from all the eight SAARC countries including India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Maldives are expected to attend the seminar. The seminar will be inaugurated by Hon’ble CBDT Member (IT), Shri S.M. Nigam on 17th March, 2015 and will be addressed by various senior officers of the Income Tax Department.

NADT all set to host INTAX -2015

The Annual Sports Meet, INTAX-2015 is being conducted from 06-02-2015 to 15-02-2015. In this event, the Officer Trainees of both 67th & 68th will participate in various games in addition to track and field events. The idea of INTAX is to develop positive sporting spirit amongst the OTs of NADT and provide them with an opportunity to develop and excel in different sports thereby not only promoting individual competence but also fostering greater team spirit, sportsmanship, teamwork, bonding, ethos of perseverance, leadership and courage to not only compete and revel in victory but also to rise from failures.INTAX is entirely managed by the Officer Trainees with the able guidance provided by the TEAM NADT. This year the officer trainees are divided into four houses named after four mountain ranges of India namely Nilgiri(blue), Aravali(yellow), Dhauligiri (green) and Trishuli(red). The events are broadly divided across four categories – 1) Racquet sports (badminton, table tennis, lawn tennis and squash) , 2) Team Sports – Football, Cricket, Volley Ball, Throw Ball, Kho-Kho and Kabaddi) 3) Track and Field – Sprint Race, Relay, Shot Put, Javelin, Disc, High Jump and Long Jump and 4) Indoor Games – Chess , Carrom, Billiards and Snooker. There will be a series of knock out games held prior to the main event ,in order to arrive at the final teams/players who will proceed to the final stages of games to be held during the 7th to 15th February. Retreat 50 organised for the Retired officers of 17th and 18th batch of IRS.

The NADT conducted a seminar of senior members of 17th and 18th batch of IRS named as ‘the Retreat 50’ programme, on 23rd and 24th December, 2014. The theme adopted for the retreat 50 was- Let's ask from the past, how should be the future?). The programme was inaugurated by Smt. Gunjan Misra, DG (training), NADT, who welcomed the participants. The programme of the Retreat 50 included an interaction with the 67th batch of IRS, currently being trained at NADT and 68th batch of IRS, which recently joined the academy. An exclusive group interaction with the 67th batch of IRS was also held on various topics. During these interactions the senior retired members of the IRS family offered valuable words of wisdom to the young officers, which would serve as the guiding light throughout their career. The senior members of IRS family motivated the young officer trainees and enriched them with their insights. The seniors members also interacted with faculty members of NADT, and gave their inputs regarding training in particular and organisation in general. There were many emotional moments during the Retreat 50, esp. when the participants visited their old training college and hostel. The participants included former Chief Election Commissioner of India Shri T.S.Krishnamurthy, Shri Amitava Chatterjee, Shri Anandaram Ogoti, Smt. Asha Mehra, Shri D. K. Roy, Shri D. Lakshminarayana, Shri M. M. Cherian, Shri M. N. Nambiar, Shri A.K. Batabyal, Smt. Moksh Lata Mahajan, Shri Ramratan Bajoria, Shri S.C. Nagpal, Shri V.B. Srinivasan, Shri Ved Sagar, Shri V.K. Mishra and Shri S.K.Ray.

DG (Trng) inaugurates Cyberforensic training Centre at NADT

Smt Gunjan Misra, Director General (Training) inaugurated the Cyberforensic training centre at NADT on 2.12.2014. This training facility will be rolling out the formal training to the officers of the Income tax department in Cyberforensics. NADT has established this centre with the help of C - DAC. It is the first step by the Directorate of Training in the direction of creating a full-fledged Cyberforensic training module and training facilities for the workforce which deserves to be trained in this field. Also a training of trainers has been organized by the C - DAC experts for the faculty members of the directorate. This facility has main emphasis on imparting hands-on-training on various aspects of digital forensics like Data acquisition, preservation, analysis, reporting from various digital devices, password breaking, mobile forensics, call data analyser, SIM data extraction etc. For details read the uploaded document with this news.
