M. TIRUMALA KUMAR,

He
is an officer of 1985 batch of IRS and hails from the city of
Rajahmunndry in the state of Andhra Pradesh.
He has done M.A. (Applied Economics) from Andhra University,
Visakhapatnam. Before joining the NADT in 2007, he was working as
DIT (International Taxation), Kolkata. He served in the Department
in various fields like assessment, investigation, vigilance,
central, computer operations, transfer pricing etc. Earlier, he also
worked in the training sector as Assistant Director at DTRTI,
Bangalore. He has done in-depth study of the public relations in the
Income Tax Department and practical aspects of search and seizure
assessments. He visited Canada in 1997 to attend ADB sponsored
course on capacity building of revenue administration.
Apart from being an economist by training and a taxman by
profession, he is a progressive poet and enthusiastic social
activist by inclination. He is a renowned writer of Telugu
literature. He authored an anthology of Poems, "Poola Vaana"
(Shower of flowers) and wrote a biography; "Mana Vavilala" on
the life of late Padmabhushan Vavilala Gopalakrishnaiah, a renowned
freedom fighter. Recepient of Dr. V. S. Krishna Fellowship from
Andhra University, Waltair and special incentive scholarship from
the Directorate of Backward Classes Welfare, Govt. of Andhra Pradesh,
he was awarded Dr. Vavilala Gopalakrishnaiah Puraskar by Rotary Club
of Rajahmundry in 2003 for his outstanding services to society. His
essay on Padmabhushan Dr. Vavilala Gopalakrishnaiah has been
included in the non-detailed Telugu text for tenth class by the
Government of Tamil Nadu in 2001.
He was the executive committee member of Hyderabad Study
Circle and also served as honorary secretary of the study circle. He
is also invited as guest faculty by the AP Study Circle and
A.P. Study Circle for B. Cs to train candidates aspiring to
enter civil services. He is the founder of SAMATA SEVA SAMITI, a
voluntary organisation for youth development. He is instrumental in
starting the A.P. Study Circle for B. Cs. at Rajahmundry by the A.P.
Government in 2003. He is also life member of Amarjeevi Potti
Sreeramulu Memorial Society, Chennai
and a founder Member of Telugu Samiti, Hyderabad.
His wife, Mrs. Kusuma Kumari is a home maker and his daughter, Ms.
Soujanya is doing her B.Sc. (Bio Technology). Contact

R RAVICHANDRAN, Additional Director General-II Ever since joining the service, he has held various posts in Chennai and Mumbai. He has worked in the Investigation Wing as well as Income Tax Appellate Tribunal. He was posted at Salem before coming to NADT. He has also been on deputation to the Directorate General of Shipping as Deputy Director General in Mumbai. He has wide work experience in the Income-tax Department.
He has worked as ACIT/DCIT in Salary circle, Business circle,
Company circle, ACIT(Inv.), ADIT(Inv.) and was promoted as Joint
Commissioner of Income-tax in the year 2001.
As Jt.CIT/Addl.CIT he has headed Business range, Central
range and Company range. Prior
to his posting as Additional Director (Training) at NADT, he was
working as TPO at Chennai. Presently
he is the Course Director for the 60th batch of IRS who
are currently undergoing Induction Training at NADT.
He has undergone training in various subjects such as
Investigation and Prosecution, valuation of immovable properties,
stock market, prevention of tax fraud, intelligence gathering and
trade craft, International Taxation, Management course for JCsIT,
block assessments, vigilance and Transfer pricing.
He is a keen sportsman and a swimmer.
He is married and has two sons namely, Master Arav Abboy and
Master Manav Doss who are aged 5 years and 3 years old respectively.
His wife is Mrs. Tripura Sundari, belongs to 1995 Batch of
IRS and she is also posted at NADT, Nagpur as Joint Director (Faculty)
and is Course Director of 62nd Batch.

He is an officer of the 1992 Batch of the Indian Revenue Service. Post-training, his professional experience within the Department has been at Chennai ( where he has worked – during the years 1994 – 2000 in assessment and investigation charges and later – during the years 2006 - 2007 in Coordination-cum-vigilance, TDS and Investigation and at Kochi where he worked - during the years 2007 – 08 in Assessment, International Taxation, Transfer Pricing and Exemptions. He possesses an M.Sc(Tech) in Instrumentation from BITS, Pilani, India and an MBA in Finance, a Masters degree in Economics and a Doctorate in Operations Research, all from the state University of New York at Buffalo, New York, USA. His academic and research interest are in the areas of Revenue Management, Dynamic Pricing, Human Capital Economics, Strategic Planning and Structuring of Training, Academics and Education, Management Science (Quantitative Approaches to Decision Making and Problem Solving), Finance and Derivatives and Intangibles in Valuation. His research in the areas of Revenue Management and Dynamic Pricing and Inventory Management has been presented in conferences held at Denver CO, USA and San Francisco, CA, USA. He is married to Srividya whose complementary approach and complete dedication and support have been the factors that have lent meaning, energy and substance to his life and contributions. They have two sons, Ashwin (born in 1996) and Shyam (born in 2005).

He is an officer of the 1993 batch of the Indian Revenue Service. He has done his B.Tech. in Civil Engineering and M.Tech. in Structural Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. He started his career in Income Tax Department from Kolkata where for three years he was posted in Assessment Charges and then for years in the Investigation Wing. In the year 2000, he was transferred to Central Board of Direct Taxes as Under Secretary in the Tax Policy and Legislation Division where he worked till March, 2004. During this period, he was sent to Australia where he completed his Master of Business Administration at the Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne. He was also a member of the Indian delegation in the first Conference on “Tax Administrations in an Electronic World” held at Montreal from 4th to 6th June, 2001. From April, 2004 to July, 2008 he served in Mumbai, where for three years he was posted in International Taxation Directorate. He is an avid reader of books and has published a number of Articles in reputed journals.
He is married to Shalini Navin and has two children, Ms. Arundhati Srivastava and Ms. Saumya Srivastava.

He is an officer of 1999 batch of IRS. He has done B.E(Electronics) from VRCE, Nagpur. On completion of training, he was posted to Pune region and thereafter he has also worked at Nagpur regions. As Assistant/Deputy Commissioner he has held various assessment charges and has also worked in Headquarters. He has good exposure to assessing cases of professionals. He has also participated in number of surveys and search & seizure operations which have given records results. He has attended many training programmes/ courses including a course on capital markets at BSE, Mumbai. His interests included Capital market study, traveling and playing billiards. He has joined NADT in September 2007. He is the Associate Course Director for the 61ST Batch of IRS.
His wife, Anuradha has done PhD from IIT-Powai. Their son, Anshul is studying in Nursery.

She has to her credit post graduate degree in Physics. She turned towards the field of Education and acquired postgraduate degree in Education, followed by doctoral degree in the same stream. She pursued further education through distance learning and acquired a Post Graduate degree in subject communication from Yashvantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University and was awarded Dadasaheb Gaikwad Puraskar of Maharashtra Government. She joined the Income Tax Department in January 1991 as Inspector of Income tax and was promoted as Income Tax Officer in September 1995. The working experience during this period was mainly related to the headquarters of the CIT and CCIT, Vidarbha. Two stints in the field gave her experience of the assessment work which forms the backbone of the department. In October 2008, she joined the NADT as Assistant Director on promotion. Finding solace in the world of words she pens down her thoughts in Marathi, Hindi and English. She has to her credit a poetry book named ‘Ekach Shabda’. She likes to spend her spare time with her family i.e. her father and sister and loves reading. P. G. Wodehouse and James Herriot are her favourite authors.
Smt Patil has joined NADT in 2008 and has been looking after the administration.

He is a Post Graduate in Physics and has Honors Diploma in Computer Applications. He joined the Income Tax Department in 1998 as a Direct Group A Officer in the Systems wing. Before joining the department he has worked with M.P Electricity Board, Jabalpur as a System/Data Base Administrator. He has worked with different operating systems including UNIX, AIX, SUN SOLARIS, HISIM NT AND languages like Structured COBOL, PL_SQL, FOXPRO. He has also worked with the databases like SYABSE – 10, ORACLE7, ORACLE 8i, ORACLE9i, ORACLE 10G along with Systems Analysis & Design. He has worked in main frame platforms like Sun Microsystems, ICIM & IBM RS6000.
Since his joining Income Tax Department, he has worked as Assistant Director (Systems), Regional Computer Centre, Nagpur. He joined NADT in August – 2008. He has keen interest for games like Table Tennis and Badminton. He hails from Chandannagar, West Bangal.
His wife Deepali, is a Post Graduate in Chemistry and is working with a private company as a Senior Scientist. His daughter, Madhumanti is in Class IX.

He is a Graduate in Commerce from University of Madras. He got his BGL degree from Madurai Kamarajar University. He got DATL (Dip. in Accountancy and Taxation Laws) from University of Madras. He got technical Certifications from NIIT, Chennai on Structural Programming in COBOL and PGDCA from Alagappa University Karaikudi. Before joining the Income Tax Department he worked in the Regional Engineering College as Personal Secretary. He joined the department as Upper Division Clerk in 1973. He got promoted as Tax Assistant in the year 1987 and head clerk in the year 1994. In the mean time he was selected for Program Assistant/Console operator and posted in Computer Cell of Chennai as Trainee in the year 1988. He got selected as Program Assistant/Console operator on deputation and posted at Madurai Computer Centre from October 1989. He got promoted as Assistant Director (Systems) in the year 2006, retrospectively from October 1994.
He handled several processes like allotment of PAN from end to end, updating challan database and man power management system, data processing and analysis, maintaining the Network and its systems. He worked in Operating Systems like DOS, Windows, UNIX and Languages like C, C++, COBOL, BASIC, SQL, FOXPRO, dbase. etc. and worked in platforms like PDP11, RS6000, NOVELL, NT.
He was taking classes from 1980 at MSTU Chennai as Guest Lecturer on Subjects like Tax Calculation, Office Procedure, and Book Keeping etc., from 1990 onwards Computer area also added to that. He conducted training sessions for end users of Income Tax Department for various software and applications used in the department in the Computer Training Centre, Office of the Commissioner of Income tax (Computer Operation), and Chennai.
He and another Programmer wrote a program on ‘One out of Six’ income, to capture the Data for the immediate allotment of the PAN. The Finance Minister had inaugurated the program at Chennai Receipt Counter and the program was given to DIT (Systems) office, which was circulated to some other locations, also.
He hails from Manapparai, Trichy District, Tamilnadu. He was General Secretary of Tamilnadu Income tax Employees Association for four years. He was holding some or other post in the Service organization until 2000. He was a member from Income tax Employees Federation - Staff side in the Computer Committee of Cadre restructuring of the department at Tamil nadu Charge as well as in All India also. He worked as Secretary of Central Government Employees Housing Welfare Scheme Residential Society, Chennai for three years. He worked for the united movement of Income tax Employees at Tamil Nadu Charge. He worked as Internal Auditor of the Income tax Employees Recreation Club, Chennai for five consecutive years. He was Treasurer and President from 2001 to 2006 of the Bazullah Road Income tax Officers quarters residential Association of the Department. He is much interested in Social Activities and teaching.
His wife Smt. Usharani is a Graduate and self employed. His son V. P. Thangamuthu, is Graduate in Engineering, working for HP at Bangalore. His daughter Rajarajeshwari is studying B.E. third year at Trichy.
Shri Palanivel is a very experienced officer of the department having worked in the field of computers for many years. He is also associated with training in ITD Applications and in-charge of Computer related issues of RTIs.
