Career:

• Joined the Civil Services in 1991 in the cadre of Indian Revenue Service.
• During the past 26 years, have been posted in different parts of the country and have worked in various areas such as administration, assessment, and investigation.
• Had the distinction of working for over 13 years in the Investigation Directorate during which period served as Deputy Director, Tirunelveli and Additional Director Madurai with additional charges of Coimbatore and Chennai. During the 13 years in the Investigation Directorate he seized several crores worth of gold & cash & handled several high profile sensitive cases.
• Has handled the charge of administration and vigilance for the states of Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry and posted as Additional Commissioner of Income Tax HQrs. Administration & Vigilance Additional Commissioner TDS, Chennai and Additional Director International Taxation. Was instrumental in ensuring Sports Quota recruitment 37 posts as well as various other vacancies which had not been filled up for 14 years.
• Posted as Commissioner of Income Tax, Tiruvananthapuram [2012-2015].
• Have worked as Competent Authority and Administrator SAFEMA and NDPS, South Zone [2015-2020] - This position involves administering the SAFEM FOP Act and NDPS Act. Under SAFEM FOP Act, the properties are forfeited and processed for auction and under the NDPS Act, the properties are frozen and administered. Held additional charge of Competent Authority, Mumbai. Has auctioned properties of internationally wanted underworld don [Dawood Ibrahim].
• Served as Commissioner of Income tax, Appeals, Madurai, with additional charges at Trichy and Chennai. [2020-2021]
• Served as Principal Commissioner of Income-tax, Assessment Unit, Chennai [2021-2022].
• Presently serving as Principal Commissioner of Income-tax, Central, Chennai [Since September 2022].

Personal Life:

• Married to Smt.Vanaja and have two children, Dr.S.Sarathganesh, MBBS, recently married to Dr.Swathi, and S.Monish, doing Chartered Accountancy.

Schooling & College:

• Schooling at Kshatriya Vidyasala, Virudhunagar; involved in debating, quizzing, and sports; state-level athlete in discus and shot put.
• Was a scout from 1976 to 1982; received the country’s top honor for a scout, the President Scouts Award.
• Graduated and post-graduated in Economics from Loyola College, Chennai; gold medalist in Economics.
• Was involved actively in college sports activities and economics association activities.

Social Interests:

• Was an Active member of JCI Jaycees and faculty of training specializing in effective communication skills and transactional analysis.
• Was earlier Vice President of Tamil Nadu Amateur Athletic Association.
•  Now elected Vice President of Tamil Nadu Basketball Association.
•  In May 2009 as Manager of Indian National Athletics Team led a contingent of 50 athletes to China for Asian grand prix.
• Toured Finland as a Rotary GSE scholar in 2006.
• Is a keen sportsman, plays tennis regularly.
• Is a keen cruciverbalist.
• Was a technical Delegate from India for the Guangzhou Asian Games, China.
• Has undergone training in Slovenia, Austria, and Duke University, USA.
• Regularly lectures at the National Academy of Direct Taxes and various institutions.
